Many Orange County residents have only modest interest in politics. One in six have a great deal of interest, half have a fair amount, and one in three have little or no interest. These local trends are similar to those found among all Californians in the PPIC Statewide Survey.

Republicans are more likely than Democrats to have at least a fair amount of interest in politics (78% to 67%). South County residents are a little more likely than North County residents (72% to 62%) to say they have at least a fair amount of interest in politics. Latinos are more likely than non-Hispanic whites (47% to 31%) to express little or no interest in politics.
