OVERALL
MOOD: QUALITY OF LIFE
When asked to rate the quality of life in Orange County, residents are
overwhelmingly positive. More than nine in 10 (92%) say things are going
"very" or "somewhat" well in the county today, with
37% saying "very well." Only 8% think things are going badly.
Quality-of-life ratings were similar in 1998. Today's
scores are a 32-point increase over 1992 and 1993, when only six in
10 said things were going "very" or "somewhat well."
The ratings are similarly high across all ages, ethnic
and racial groups, and county regions. Non-Hispanic whites are more
likely to say things are going "very well" (42%) than are
Latinos (26%). Those earning $80,000 or more (48%) are more positive
than are those earning less than $36,000 (29%). And the number saying
things are going "very well" is higher in the South County
(50%) than the North (31%). Still, a strong majority in all demographic
groups believes that things are going well in Orange County today.
